Our Story


Originating in Kinsale, Co. Cork, Kinsale Bay Food Company is a family-owned business and started trading on April 18th, 2014. From simple beginnings supplying various products to local Kinsale farmers’ markets, we have grown into the quality-based, free-from food company we are today, distributing our range of products nationwide.



All of our products are hand prepared in our state-of-the-art production kitchen by our talented team.  Kinsale Bay Food Company is passionate and committed to producing a range of gluten-free products of the highest standards made with locally sourced ingredients. Our white fish and smoked white fish are caught in the fresh clear Atlantic Ocean while the hot smoked salmon used in our pâté is smoked in Cahirsiveen, Co.Kerry.  We pride ourselves on working closely with our suppliers, sourcing the highest quality ingredients for our Irish gluten-free range. We are committed to sustainability and traceability and are Bord Bia Origin Green certified.

Our products are being recognised nationally for their quality and taste, which is evident from our many awards.



The company’s origins lie on the site of the Old Fish Market in the centre of Kinsale town dating back to 1784. This market was an integral part of the town’s success as a fishing port. By the 17th century, 70 fishing boats operated out of Kinsale catching over 4000 mackerel per day, using a specialised fishing boat that was built locally called The Kinsale Hooker.

All fish were cleaned and filleted at the Fish Market site and exported to England, France and Europe.

In 2008, on the site of the Old Fish Market in Kinsale, we started to prepare, cook and sell our gluten-free range of products to local markets in Kinsale and West Cork. We have found our home from home in Little Island now, perfecting the same traditional recipes and cooking methods that we created in Kinsale at the Old Fish Market site. It was here, in the picturesque and world-famous fishing village perched on the South Coast of Ireland overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and Old Head of Kinsale, that inspired our owners Jim and Tommy to name us the Kinsale Bay Food Company.
