The Kinsale Bay Food Company, a Cork company that prides itself on crafting the finest gluten-free, Irish food products have done it again at this year’s FreeFrom Food Awards winning 2 Gold Awards for their Seafood Chowder and Chicken Liver Pâté and a Bronze award for their Kinsale Fish Pie, held at a black tie gala event in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dublin on May 10th.
This is a 2 in a row for the Kinsale Bay Food Company, having won 3 FreeFrom Food Awards at last year’s event, winning Gold for their Mushroom Soup and 2 Silver Awards for their Cottage and Shepherd’s Pie.
The FreeFrom Food Awards celebrate quality Irish food products in the “freefrom” market. The awards showcase and acknowledge the many quality Irish products available to consumers, be it gluten-free, dairy-free, or wheat-free.
Kinsale Bay Food Company have won an array of awards over the years including a Gold and Bronze at the Blas na hEireann awards in 2016 for their Chicken Liver Pâté with Red Onion Marmalade and Chicken Liver Pâté with Red Pepper Relish respectively, a Gold star for their Mushroom Soup at the Great Taste Awards in 2014, and winner at the Irish Quality Food Awards in 2013 for their Kinsale Fish Pie to name but a few. Using the freshest locally sourced ingredients, the Cork food company is committed to producing their innovative gluten free products to the highest standard.
Having originated in Kinsale in 2008, selling various products in the Kinsale town market, as the business expanded the company moved to a state of the art gluten free facility in Little Island, Cork. Co-owned by Jim O’Mahoney and Tommy Doyle, a 7 time All Ireland winner and 1986 captain with Kerry football, the company is now selling their gluten free range to SuperValu, Tesco, Dunnes Stores, Centra, Artisan and Independent stores nationwide. With his sporting background, Tommy recognises the need for products that offer both nourishment and a healthy choice to the Irish consumer and under his guidance, Kinsale Bay Food Company will continue to develop new products for the market and compete at award winning events.
