Founded in Kinsale, Co. Cork the now newly established Kinsale Bay Food Company started trading on April 18th 2014. Kinsale Bay Food Company’s new owners have brought new insight, innovation and a shared core vision to grow the company through sustainable and secure growth.
From humble beginnings in 2008 selling various products in the Kinsale town market, we have evolved to the artisan company we are today, selling our ‘Fresh from Kinsale’ range to supermarket chains and independent stores nationwide.
In 2010 we moved to a dedicated gluten free food manufacturing facility, allowing us to grow substantially.
Our mission is to make wholesome gluten-free ready to eat food, using locally sourced ingredient, and make them available to Irish consumers. No use of artificial preservatives and additives are used thus ensuring the highest quality and wholesome taste.
History of Kinsale
The historic town of Kinsale, Co.Cork is located in a picturesque harbour with a strong fishing and food tradition.
The company’s origins lie on the site of the Old Fish and Meat Market in the centre of the town dating back to 1784, this market was an integral part of the towns success as a fishing port.
Conservation architects completed a 3 year restoration of the Old Kinsale Fish market wall.In the 15th century fish was exported to England and France.
By the 17th century about 70 fishing boats operated out of Kinsale catching 4000 mackerel a day, using specialised fishing vessel, called The Kinsale Hooker. All fish was processed through the fish market.
All our products are hand made in our Cork based production kitchen by our talented team of chefs using local Irish ingredients where possible. Our white fish and smoked white fish are caught in the fresh clear Atlantic Ocean. Our hot smoked salmon used in our pâté is smoked in Cahirsiveen, Co.Kerry.
